Farewell to nukes

President Petro Poroshenko ruled out Ukraines return to nuclear status. He stated this in an interview to ABC. The president stressed that the return to nuclear status would be absolutely irresponsible. We can defeat the aggressor only when we are united and when the whole world shows exactly what we have now solidarity with Ukraine, said Poroshenko. He said, nuclear arms is the technology of the 20th century, which does not guarantee security in the 21st century. In 1994 Ukraine, the US, the UK and Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum on Ukraines renunciation of nuclear weapons against the guarantee of sovereignty and security from the signatory countries. Ukraine had the worlds third most powerful nuclear arsenal.
