Kyiv, Donbas offer best wages

Kyiv workers have the highest salaries in Ukraine, while residents of the Ternopil oblast are the poorest citizens in the country. The average monthly income of Ukrainians is UAH 3,506, according to the State Statistics Committee. The stats for 2010 show that Kyiv residents have the highest salaries (UAH 8,230 on average), while residents of the Ternopil oblast have the lowest salaries at UAH 2,219. Aside from residents of Kyiv, only Ukrainians living in the Donbas region have salaries higher than UAH 4,000 , average income is UAH 4,229.

The average salaries in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts are less than UAH 4,000 a month (UAH 3,811 and UAH 3,979 respectively). Also, residents of the Kyiv, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts and the city of Sevastopol earn less than UAH 3,000 a month. Jobs in the Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Rivne, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Franskivsk and Khmelnytskiy oblasts pay between UAH 2,500-2,800. People that live in the Chernivtsi, Kherson and Zakarpattia oblasts earn slightly more than residents of the Ternopil oblast.
