Ukrainians should not use payroll cards and accounts as they are pleased, as well as accounts for scholarships, pensions, child benefits and other social payments, central bank warns. The NBU believes that cards used for payroll or educational allowances should be used exceptionally for such types of payments.
The new restrictions are not a personal whim of the NBU, but only compliance of the new Tax Code, which entered into force on August 1, 2014. The document introduced taxation of incomesreceived from deposits - 15% of accrued interests.
Officials consider as “deposits” all settlement and card accounts. The only exception was made for the accounts used to pay salaries, scholarships, pensions, child benefits and other social payments. To differentiate social payments from other transactions banks should observe intended use of cards.Printable version
