Crimea hungry for Ukrainian foodstuffs

The Rosselkhoznadzor allowed importing food products from Ukraine to Crimea occupied by the Russian Federation without additional inspections by January 1, 2015, although at first such permission was granted by October 1, 2014. The document says that food products imported from Ukraine to Crimea can only be used on the peninsula without moving to other subjects of the Russian Federation. Yet the Rosselkhoznadzor retained the ban on imports of Ukrainian pork, pork products and products manufactured by certain Ukrainian enterprises against which Russia imposed restrictions due to non-compliance of their products with Russian safety regulations.
