Ukraine expects to purchase around 6-7 bn cu m of natural gas from Russia for the heating season, announced Vice Premier Volodymyr Groisman.
“We need to purchase 6-7 bn cu m of gas. We expect that Russia will sell us this volume. To date, I see no reasons why Russian side won’t sell this gas to us,” said Groisman. At that, he noted that an operative staff has been set up for development of options of operation during the heating season without the Russian gas.
In recent months, Ukraine only imports gas coming from reverse flow supplies. Ukraine is developing reverse flow gas supplies from Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Opening of all four routes will allow Ukraine for increasing annual gas supplies to 30 bn cu m. Slovakia is the most promising route of gas supplies to Ukraine.Printable version
