Russia Insists On Retaining Quota on Ukrainian Pipes

Russia insists on the retention of quota for duty-free importation of steel pipes from Ukraine at the level of 55,000 tons in April-June 2010, Deputy Industrial Policy Minister Serhiy Bilenkiy said. Ukraine is haggling for better conditions, he commented on the meeting of the intergovernmental commission with the heads of Economy Ministry of Ukraine and the Ukrainian-Russian Industrial Policy Ministry and Industrial Policy and Trade Ministry on April 15. He said the parties have not reached final consent and the talks are still held by the representatives of the Ukrainian enterprises and state structures of Ukraine.

Ukraine offers the quota of 270,000-280,000 tons of pipes a year. Ukraine hoped to agree upon duty-free supply of 270,000 tons of pipes to Russia in 2010.
