NBU mints EURO coins

The National Bank of Ukraine introduced silver commemorative souvenir coins dedicated to EURO 2012 events in Kyiv, Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkiv and the championship overall. The full series of EURO 2012 souvenir coins consists of 11 coins made of gold, silver and nickel selver, and a circulating coin with face value of UAH 1. EURO 2012 official logo will be depicted on all coins.

There will be commemorative coins to the value of UAH 20 (mass 62.2 g, diameter 50 mm, circulation up to 15,000) and UAH 10 coins will be dedicated to each of the four host cities (mass 31.1 g, diameter 38.6 mm, circulation up to 15,000). Moreover, the NBU plans to introduce EURO 2012 coins to the value of UAH 500 on December 23 (24-karat gold, circulation up to 500) and UAH 5 (copper-nickel alloy, circulation up to 100,000). The whole series of commemorative coins will be presented at the end of December, after which all coins will be available for sale. The NBU will sell the coins in its representative offices in all regions of Ukraine and branch offices of Ukrsotsbank, which is the EURO 2012 national sponsor in Ukraine.
